Removing Contact Lens
- Wash your hands. Having dirty hands while removing your contact lenses can possibly irritate your eyes. As such, you should wash your hands with a natural soap free of heavy perfumes or excessive moisturizers like aloe.
- Make sure your contact is still in the eye. To do this, close one eye. If your open eye is blurry, your contact has either shifted outside of the color of the eye or is no longer in your eye. This will prevent you from possibly doing damage to your eye, poking around for a contact that is not actually there.
- Hold your eye open and, with your finger, slide the contact lens from the color of your eye into the white area. Move your thumb to your finger to pinch the contact lens. Pull the lens off the white of your eye and place it in your contact solution for cleaning. Repeat these same steps for your other eye, including the step described in Section 2.
- Some contact wearers may run into problems while removing their lenses. If you can't slide your lens into the white section of your eye, try finding a focal point to focus your eyes on. Don't move your eyes from that spot as when your eye moves, so does the lens. If you are having problems picking the contact off the eye, try pushing the lens further away from the cornea into the whites of the eye. If you still can't get the lens out, and your eye is starting to feel irritated, take a break and come back later and try again.
