The most popular cruise destination for the UK cruiser - is to the Mediterranean.
This will no doubt surprise a few people, and believe us when we say it is indeed one of the more popular cruises out there.
The reason the Mediterranean Cruise is often downplayed or underestimated is mostly due to it not being as glamorous or as exotic as other cruise destinations - however, with great weather during the summer months, you get the choice of not flying, but cruising from the UK instead.
Also with low cost flights making the ports easily accessible, you can understand why.
A Mediterranean Cruise is very different to cruises such as the Caribbean.
It is very much a destination rich with history and culture.
Below is a list of our "Top 10 things to do on a Mediterranean Cruise".
  1. Our number one destination is Venice.
    You cannot go to Venice and not jump on a Gondola, nor have a coffee in St Marks Square.
    You must also try Harrys Bar.
    This is where the cocktail the "Bellini" was created.
  2. When visiting Livorno, jump on a train and bus, and visit Pisa.
    Here you can visit the famous Leaning Tower.
    This way is a lot cheaper than using the ships organised shore excursion.
  3. In Santorini, don't take the easy way up the hill by going on the cable car.
    For the adventurous, take the donkeys, and ride up.
    For the fit or adventurous ones, walk up all 328 steps.
    Make certain to buy a drink at the bottom before you embark.
  4. When visiting Barcelona, if you're a football fan, don't pass up the chance of visiting the Nou Camp.
    This famous football stadium is arguably one of the best in the world, hosting one of the world's best football teams.
  5. When in Civitavecchia, don't be scared of going to Rome by train and visiting this beautiful city on your own.
    The train takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, and drops you off at Rome Central.
  6. If you're in Rome, you must visit the Vatican - the buildings are out of this world.
  7. If you're visiting the port of Villefranche.
    Try and time it that the Monte Carlo grand prix is on the same weekend.
    You can jump on a train into one of the world's most glamorous cities and mix with the rich and famous.
  8. When in Naples, hire a car and drive to Mount Vesuvius.
    This volcano is what created Pompeii, and is awe inspiring when you get to the top.
    How many people can say, that they have looked into a live volcano crater?
  9. In Mykonos, have a beer or Ouzo whilst exploring the beautiful port.
    Watch the sunset, and relax with the true Greek hospitality.
  10. If you get the chance, embark on a cruise that takes in Dubovnik in Croatia.
    Make your way to the walled city and explore the shops and ramparts.
    Finish your day, by heading for the bar with the most beautiful views.
    You really won't be disappointed, and the steps to get up there will help you work-up a thirst.
    The bar is cut into the cliff side and looks over the crystal blue sea, and glaring over the picturesque island.
