One aspect of the consumer electronics that keeps growing is the pocket size camera industry. You can probably guess that there is a lot of competition among the many manufacturers of this device. This kind of competition is wonderful news for you as a consumer. The competition drives the development of new technology which creates advanced features, benefits, and innovations. Find the best pocket size camera for your needs by learning about some of the new features to be on the lookout for.

The first camera we'll look at is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 that seems to have compromised in certain areas. Although some people love this quality, we found the images to be consistently too soft. This camera has the capability to be good for quick shooting which can appeal to some hobbyists. Able to perform under a variety of conditions, this is an adaptable digital camera. This ultra-compact camera has a 12 megapixel capability, 4X zoom, and a 3.5 inch color TFT matrix LCD display. We wish the battery life was better along with the photo softness issue. There are simply too many features to adequately cover in this article, and you'll simply need to do additional research if you're interested.

The next camera we'll be looking at is the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 which is built for the outdoors.

Able to go a little more than 30 feet underwater, this camera is rated waterproof. This ultra compact camera lives up to its name of tough. The 14 megapixel resolution seems like overkill to us, especially compared to the standard LCD display, zoom, and built in flash. The main market for this camera is those who want a camera that can withstand some abuse from the elements because they love the rugged outdoors. This camera is designed to survive a six foot drop as well as being waterproof. It is also supposed to withstand freezing and crushing. This is one tough little camera!

Moving forward as quickly as possible, let's take a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5. While it has slightly lowered ISO's, this pocket size mega-zoom camera produces good pictures. It has a decent complement of features, and overall we think this is a decent alternative to some cameras on the market. This camera, which has 12.1 megapixels and an ultra wide lens, produces pictures with good image sharpness and quality. You also have the ability to exert manual control with this camera. The 12X optical zoom capacity is what qualifies this as a mega-zoom, along with a 25 mm wide angle lens. Because mega-zooms don't have a viewfinder, you simply use the 2.7 inch TFT display.

There are too many terrific digital pocket sized cameras with fabulous features to cover in this article. The majority of what we're seeing is follow-up designs to improve over shortcomings that weren't realized until after design and production. But that is fine with us and many other people, too. People have all kinds of uses for their ultra-compact cameras, and so bear that in mind and then find a great camera that suits your lifestyle and purpose.
