Tattoo Parlor

So you've decided on a tattoo design, but not sure how to find an artist to ink it for you. Now we know excitement can lead to rash decisions, but remember a tattoo is permanent, so don't just head to the first parlor you stumble across. This is a major commitment, so you want to choose a reputable tattoo parlor to carry out the job.
Firstly, gather as much information as possible about local parlors before you turn up in person. Whether this be via the internet, local newspapers, library or word of mouth, just do your homework. If you were buying a new television, you wouldn't head to the first store and purchase, right? Same rules apply here. Once you have done your research, pay the selected parlor's a visit. View examples of the artists' work and take the time to just stay for a while and watch. Any credible tattoo artist these days will be more than willing for perspective clients to sit in on a session. These guys are proud of their art and love to show it off! Once the session has finished, ask the artist any questions you may have and show them an image of the tattoo design you are after. If they are friendly and willing to give you time, striking up a good rapport is vital. This person is about to leave a mark on you, quite literally, forever, so feeling comfortable is an important factor. Anyone having cosmetic surgery will tell you having great trust in their surgeon is paramount and this is no different except you will be heading home with a fantastic work of art rather than a new set of ....frown lines.
Pay close attention to the quality of the art. Flicking through the portfolio book at each parlor and seeing pretty pictures is not enough to make an informed decision. Look closely at the lines. They should be smooth, not jumpy or jagged. Colors should be bold and filled in completely with no blank areas. Circles should look like circles, not ovals. You don't need to be an artist to spot these, but if you have a creative friend, bring them along for another point of view.
Getting a tattoo is certainly exciting, but that can be short lived if you walk away unhappy with the final results. Minimising this risk is in your own hands so put in a few research hours and we're sure you'll find the perfect local tattoo parlor to fit your needs.
