How to Make an Akatsuki Costume
- 1). Research the Akatsuki outfit online by entering the word "Akatsuki" into a search engine and locating images of Akatsuki members. Find an image that displays the full outfit and use it as the basis of your costume design.
- 2). Purchase, sew, or find in your own wardrobe a black trench coat that, when worn, extends almost to the floor. To save money, purchase the trench coat in a thrift store or ask friends and family if they have an old black trench coat they do not wear anymore. The black trench coat is the main element of the Akatsuki costume.
- 3). Draw cloud designs onto the red fabric using white fabric paint. Copy the design of the clouds that is shown on the images from your search in Step 1. The clouds should be about the size of a loaf of bread.
- 4). Cut the clouds out of the red fabric using scissors. Cut on the outer edge of the white paint so that a white boarder is left on the cloud pieces. Cut out two long strips of red fabric that are approximately 1 inch wide and the length of the trench coat.
- 5). Glue the red cloud pieces onto the black trench coat using the hot glue gun. The clouds should be spaced consistently across the trench coat. Glue the red strips along the front seams of the trench coat on the near the buttons and the buttonholes.
- 6). Make the Akatsuki headband by drawing the Akatsuki straight-line symbol onto a 2-inch by 5-inch rectangle piece of white fabric and gluing the rectangle onto a black, stretch headband. Use the images from Step 1 to help you recreate the headband design.
- 7). Spray paint your hair or wear a wig to look like one of the members of Akatsuki. The members' hairstyles range from bright orange and spiky to a blond ponytail. Use the images from Step 1 to help you recreate the hairstyle of a member of Akatsuki.
