How Successful People Think Workbook - John C Maxwell"s Newest Book Reviewed
John C.
Maxwell is a famous and well-respected author and speaker.
And his newest book "How Successful People Think Workbook" doesn't disappoint.
Maxwell touches on an important subject rarely -if ever- discussed in our current public school system: the power of our thoughts.
Our thoughts can be a path to personal prosperity, or a path to complete ruin.
Unfortunately, most people's thoughts work against them.
The How Successful People Think Workbook is meant to be a soup-to-nuts guide to steering your thoughts to benefit you, rather than hinder you.
By far, the absolute best part about the How Successful People Think Workbook is the fact that it is just that: a workbook.
After reading a dozen self-help books, you've probably already got it in your mind that you need to: think BIG, think positive thoughts, say positive affirmations, the usual.
This book is different because it actually makes you (who would've thought) THINK about what Maxwell is discussing.
For instance, instead of just making a point and moving on, Maxwell has places throughout the workbook to fill in answers.
And these answers aren't "right or wrong.
" These answers are based on your own thoughts.
By getting you to THINK, Maxwell is making you more aware of "How Successful People Think.
" The book includes 11 types of thinking: big-picture, focused, creative, realistic, strategic, possibility, reflective, popular, shared, un-selfish, and bottom-line thinking.
What I found stunning was that I've personally exercised several if not all of these ways of thinking, however I wasn't doing them as effectively as I could.
I also noticed that I spent a great deal of time in a few of these types of thought with no real sense of balance between them.
So my first personal lesson with the "How Successful People Think Workbook" was that I needed to be AWARE of what type of thinking I was employing, whether I had balance between the different types of thinking, and what type(s) of thinking I should be using depending on the situation.
My next personal lesson was that no matter how many self-help books you DO read, personal development is a constantly evolving process.
During this process we need to be reminded of what we've already learned and reminded that we need to APPLY what we learn.
In this case I was reminded about how much our beliefs shape our thoughts and how we need to change our actions (and thus our habits) to create new beliefs and new thoughts.
All of these things are connected, and all of them can be altered with time.
This is a breath of fresh air if you've been struggling to find success in your life.
It's never too late to start changing your thinking and living the life of your dreams.
