Robotic Welding Technology
- Automated robotic welding repeatedly produces quality welding at lower costs than a human assembly line. Automated welding robots work round the clock and create safer workplaces, which increases the return on investment (ROI) for manufacturing companies.
- Two main types of welding robots--articulated and rectilinear---have different methods for rotating wrist motion. Articulating robots move arms and joints, much like a human arm and wrist, in an asymmetrical work area. Rectilinear robots work in box shaped areas, along X-, Y- or Z-axes, with wrists attached for rotating motion.
- Welding robotics---the automated process of joining materials---though producing products quicker and more cost effectively than humans, are currently still limited to single tasks. Advancements are being made to streamline welding robotics, making it more affordable to small and medium size manufacturers. Other advances include welding robotics producing single products without retooling between jobs, and just-in-time (JIT) production runs manufacturing products as-needed instead of months in advance.
