Microsoft made a huge announcement a couple of days ago in the purchase of the video communications website Skype.
What is so amazing is that Microsoft spent $8.
5 billion for the video communication site which is their biggest deal ever.
So what is Microsoft going to do with Skype's technology to take them to the top of the telecommunications world? Many of the users are wondering if they are going to have to pay for the service which has been free for so long.
Some of the users are paying for the upgrade services that Skype provides but we all know that the majority are using it for free.
That's over 600 million users.
The big question is, will Microsoft lose or gain users depending on what they intend to do with the technology.
Video technology has been huge over the years which is no secret but what vision does Microsoft really see when it comes to Skype.
YouTube is still big business and now people are starting to use video phones like the iPhone and the Iris 5000 because they are more convenient.
Picking up the phone and see the person you are talking to is a lot easier than making an appointment to Skype someone in my opinion.
It seems they are looking to corner the market by making some changes to the video website and get their piece of the pie as well.
There are speculations to what Microsoft may do to make it more profitable.
Adding more advertising ads is one suggestion that was made.
Of course video advertising is big business because YouTube has been doing that for years.
Another suggestion is to integrate Skype with the Xbox.
That may be huge to be able to see and chat with people while you are playing videos games with or against each other.
Another option is to improve the windows phone to try and compete with the iPhone.
Microsoft is also thinking about using it for office meetings when it comes to video conferencing.
As you can see it's evident that Microsoft is determined to get in the game when it comes to video technology.
Experts say that in the next several years video technology is going to produce many wealthy people as well as happy customers.
As we all know fortunes are made when people say, what the heck is that too I want one of those like video phones, cell phones and computers.
Let's see in the next several years what Microsoft will do with Skype and what its future impact will be.
