    • 1). Cut out four squares from the fabric, 6x12 inches each. Measure 1/2 inch from the edges and pin two squares together, with the front of the fabric facing inward. Use about one pin per inch, or 20 to 30 pins. Repeat with remaining two squares.

    • 2). Thread the sewing machine with thick thread and make sure a large, strong needle is in place. Measure 1/2 inch from the edge and use a basic stich to sew the two long sides and one short side of each pinned square. Remove pins and turn the squares right-side out so that the front of the fabric faces out.

    • 3). Fold the open edges of each square down one inch and into the open fabric pocket. Pin into place. Measure 1/2 inch from the top and hem each square closed. Remove pins.

    • 4). Pin together the two closed fabric squares. Measure 1/2 inch in and sew the squares together on the two long ends, which will be the sides of the purse, and one short side, which will be the bottom of the purse. Leave a one inch gap open along the top of purse sides at the top. Remove pins.

    • 5). Cut an 8-inch piece of ribbon and sew it securely to the left and right inside seams of the purse to create a handle.

    • 6). Cut another 8-inch piece of ribbon and sew it securely onto the back part of the purse, about 2 inches below the top. Do this by sewing a little square in the middle of the ribbon to secure it to the middle, back part of the purse.

    • 7). Pull the ribbon around the sides of the purse to the front and tie in a tight bow. Untie bow to open purse and tie again to close it.
