    • 1). Unplug the dryer cord from the dryer wall outlet.

    • 2). Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws securing the front of the control console to the top of the dryer. Some models use retaining springs instead of screws. To disconnect the retaining springs, slide the blade of a putty knife under the front corners of the control console while lifting the console with your hands. Set the control console out of your way without disconnecting any wires.

    • 3). Disconnect the top panel from the front panel by inserting a putty knife between the panels to locate and disengage the retaining clips. Lift the top panel up and remove it from the dryer.

    • 4). Remove the screws that attach the top front panel flanges to the side panels with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Swing the top of the front panel out and lift up to release the front panel from the base of the dryer.

    • 5). Locate the idler pulley by reaching your hand under the drum and beside the motor. Push the idler pulley to the left to release the tension off of the belt. Take notice of how the belt is routed for installation of the new belt later. Slip the belt off of the motor pulley and pull it away from the idler pulley.

    • 6). Lift the dryer drum up with one hand while grabbing the belt with the other hand. Pull the drum and belt out of the dryer. Take the old belt off of the dryer drum and place the new belt over the drum. Place the drum with the belt back into the dryer.

    • 7). Route the belt around both the motor pulley and the idler pulley. If you are unsure of the routing there is a schematic tech sheet that is either on the back of the control panel or taped to the back of the front panel. Pull the idler pulley to the right after routing the belt to apply tension to the dryer belt.

    • 8). Position the front panel back into the bottom retaining tabs and line the flanges up with the sides. Secure the front panel using the retaining screws. Slide the top panel back into position on the dryer and push it in until the retaining spring clips secure the top panel.

    • 9). Secure the control console back onto the top panel using the securing screws. Plug the dryer back into the dryer wall outlet.
