At the end of the last decade, blogging referred to comments placed on web pages.
It was an opportunity to comment on content, style or just randomly comment.
Blogging has seriously evolved since then and is now considered one of the leading ways for internet marketers to advertise online.
If you are a serious internet marketer and you are not blogging on an almost daily basis, you are missing out on a simple but effective way of growing your business.
Here are 5 reasons why you should use blogging as a marketing tool.
1.
Setting up is simple and very user friendly.
What easier way is there to create an online presence that requires such limited use of technology? Providing you can type and move around the screen, then you can blog.
Ideally you want your personality to come through on your blogs, it is your personal story/experience remember; and people join people, not necessarily businesses.
2.
It is real.
All too often we are inundated with promoters trying to see us everything under the sun with the added promise of becoming millionaires overnight.
We often question the honesty and credibility of the promoters' claims.
Blogging however, is different.
It is where people share real life experiences for free whilst simultaneously marketing their product.
Word of mouth advertising is the best form there is and if you can share someone's experience, positive or negative about a product, then surely this will enable you to make a more informed choice? 3.
Blogging is free initially although there are some paid sites.
Most free sites view blogging as a way of supplementing other forms of advertising and therefore do not charge.
Once your business is well established then you may wish to take advantage of paid blog sites that will generate quicker income for your business.
4.
Blogging builds your online presence.
As you get more competent with your blogs and your confidence grows perhaps through comments you receive on your writing, you will find your readership growing as your value as a blogger increases.
5.
It can help build your market.
Some celebrities and other renowned personalities have a huge following on their blog sites and this is because in some way they add value.
That's what you always want to be aiming for.
You want to educate people whilst at the same time promote and market your product.
The main thing to remember is that when it comes down to it, the product you're really marketing is you.
If you get this right, then people will see you as a credible blogger and be more inclined to find out more about your business.
Some alternative and/or additional aspects to consider: Email.
You could grow your blog followers by simply including a teaser within your emails that refers to your blog site.
Again bring your personality to the forefront so the recipient just has to go to the site to find out what it's all about.
Should you be sending emails on something quite different to the theme of your blog, then just consider putting the link within your signature block.
Attract subscribers.
Offer something of value within your blog and have a subscription box where they sign up to receive your offer.
What you need to avoid doing this, however is that you could be perceived as scamming so only use the information given honestly and correctly.
Should you not do this, you could receive unwanted comments referring to you as a spammer and ultimately your site could be closed down.
Join a blog network - A network of like minded bloggers that share the same industry, interest, readership base etc.
Readers will love the convenience of clicking one link to find several blogs on an individual subject.
They always say '2 heads are better than one' and this is relevant too in the world of blogging.
Using RSS.
RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today.
As such, having RSS feeds to your blog is definitely another means of generating awareness for your readership base.
Having a variety of feeds can add interest to your blog site.
Blog regularly.
You should be aiming to blog at least 2-3 times a week in order to build up your readership.
Should you be using it as an internet marketing tool, then it will increase your credibility if your blogs are always written with the business theme in mind.
It doesn't do any harm, however to break from this occasionally and write about a holiday or something that shows a real person behind the blog.
