Instructions on How to Remove a Stackable Refrigerator & Dryer
- 1). Slide the stacked appliances away from the wall far enough that you can easily reach behind the machines. If necessary, use the help of a friend to move them.
- 2). Disconnect both appliances from their electrical outlets. Wrap the cords into a roll and then tie a twist tie around them to keep them from unraveling.
- 3). Turn off the water shut-off valves going to the washing machines and then loosen the hose couplers that connect the water hoses to the shut-off valves with pliers. Loosen the hose couplers connected to the back of the washing machine and then place the hoses inside the washing machine to prevent losing them.
- 4). Loosen the screw on the ban-clamp that secures the dryer vent hose to the dryer vent port and then pull the hose off the dryer.
- 5). Locate the mounting bolts that secure the dryer to the top of the washing machine. The exact location of each bolt will differ depending on the brand and model you have. In most cases, you will find a bolt in each corner where the appliances connect. In other cases, you will only locate brackets on the back of the machines. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the retaining screws.
- 6). Lift the dryer up and place it on the ground in front of or bedside the washing machine. Dryers weigh less than washing machines but they are still large and awkward to carry. Use the help of a friend to lift the dryer off the washing machine.
- 7). Drape a towel over the side of the dryer that you will slide the dolly against. The towel will protect the paint.
- 8). Slide the dolly under the dryer. Wrap the ratchet straps around the dolly and dryer and then tighten the dryer onto the dolly by tightening the straps with the ratcheting mechanism.
- 9). Lift the dryer up by tiling the dolly backward and then move the dryer to its new location. Once at the new location, remove the ratchet straps and towel.
- 10
Place the towel on the washing machine and then secure the washing machine to the dolly. Tilt the dolly back and move the washing machine to its new location. Keep in mind that the washing machine weights more and will be slightly more difficult to move.
