Definition: Also known by its initials NWOBHM, the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal began in the late '70s and early '80s in England. Following the original metal bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, the new wave was more straight ahead metal with fewer rock and blues influences.
