  "New Super Mario Bros." is a side-scrolling game for the Nintendo DS. You control the protagonist, Mario, on his quest to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the evils of Bowser and his henchmen. The game is filled with many secrets, such as the ability to change the protagonist from Mario to Luigi, saving anywhere and secret worlds to unlock and explore.
  
  

Play as Luigi

• When you are at the Select a File screen, hold down the "L" and "R" buttons, then select a game file with the "A" button. When the game loads completely, you will now be playing as Luigi instead of Mario.
  
  

Secret Challenge Mode

• Pause the game when you are at the map screen, then press the sequence (in order) "L," "R," "L," "R," "X," "X," "Y" and "Y" and you will enter Challenge mode. This cheat can only be applied after you complete the game.
  
  

Save Anywhere

• You must have beaten the final castle in World 8.When you restart the game, there will be a star next to your save file, as well as an option to save your game on the menu at the map screen.
  
  

Patterns & Infinite Toad-House Items

• To get the Special BG patterns, just beat the game once. In order to get infinite Toad-House items, you have to clear every level, as well as the lettered bonus levels.
  
  

Unlock Extra Worlds

• There are two extra worlds to unlock: World 4 and World 7. To get them, you must go to the last castle of Worlds 2 and 5 as mini-Mario, then beat the bosses.
