Sparkly Glowing Areas

• There is a large number of areas in the game that are indicated by a sparkling glow. Clicking on the sparkles will open up a list of items you need to find in the area. This is a necessary part of completing the game, so be sure to investigate every sparkly glowing area. When you find all of the items, you will have an item added to your inventory. This item will usually be necessary for solving a later puzzle. "Return to Ravenhearst" allows you to skip puzzles, so it is possible that you will not use every item you gain from sparkly glowing areas.
  
  

Hint Button

• The hint button located in the bottom right corner of the screen can help you when you are stuck on the current puzzle. It has two different functions, depending on how it is used. If you are looking for hidden objects on a list, the hint button will randomly circle one object when pressed. You can also drag an item from your inventory onto the hint button and it will give a clue as to what the item is for. In either case, the hint button will need time to recharge after each use. The hint button will recharge after a set amount of time, but this decreases much more quickly if you find items while it is recharging.
  
  

Puzzle Clues

• One thing to keep in mind is that not every item has an esoteric use. If you encounter a locked door, it is a good idea to try using a key from your inventory first. Sometimes the tricky part of a puzzle is actually finding the item in the first place. The Case File Book in the lower left corner also can give some good tips for progressing through the game. Many puzzles have auditory cues that the puzzle has advanced, even if there is no visual cue, so pay attention to sounds when working on a puzzle. The sound cues are usually fairly obvious. In one puzzle, for example, you cannot enter a telephone number until you hear the dial tone.
