DIY Wedding Veil & Glue Ribbon Edge

    Making the Veil

    • 1). Measure how long you want the veil to be and determine how you want it to sit on your head. Some veils are worn on the crown of the head while others are placed on the back of the head, just above the top of the neck.

    • 2). Cut the tulle to the desired length. Tulle on a roll typically comes in 45-inch widths, and you will want most of that width for your veil.

    • 3). Cut the corners off, making large curves. An easy way to do this is to lay a large dinner plate on the corner of the tulle and cut around it.

    • 4). Thread a needle with a yard of white thread. Sew a gathering stitch along the top of the tulle; this is the end that will be connected to the comb. Leave the tails of thread long on either side of the tulle.

    • 5). Pull on the threads on either side of the tulle to gather the tulle until it is the same width as the comb. Knot the threads on both sides so the tulle does not become ungathered again.

    • 6). Cover the end of the comb with fabric or craft glue. Hold the gathered end to the glue until it dries.

    Adding the Ribbon

    • 1). Lay the tulle flat on the table. Place a small amount of craft glue on one side of a piece of ribbon. Only put glue on a short section of the ribbon.

    • 2). Press the ribbon to the tulle, as close to the edge as possible. Begin up near the comb so the end of the ribbon is hidden in the folds of the tulle.

    • 3). Add more glue to the next several inches of ribbon, pressing it down onto the tulle.

    • 4). Continue adding glue and adhering the ribbon to the tulle until the veil is complete.

    • 5). Allow the glue to dry completely before doing anything else with the veil.
