Driving Through Standing Water
If you live by the coast or near water and find yourself with multiple tropical storms or even have periods of heavy rain where there are roads that flood and have standing water do not drive through them.
If it is high enough to come to the side of your car door then you run the risk of your car stalling and being stuck in the water.
You would also run the risk of water damage to your engine.
Sometime you will see people wading through standing water and then fall.
This is because something had floated to that area and they unexpectedly tripped over it.
This can be dangerous for the pedestrian and for a driver.
No one knows what is under or in the standing water.
Check your auto insurance policy to see what type of coverage you have and see if you have a Mother Nature clause.
Some people tell me there is such a thing and I always assumed if a tree fell on my car then my auto insurance policy would pay for the repairs minus my deductible.
If you find it is too high then price shop and compare auto insurance quotes to see who can give you a better deal.
Everyone price shops, whether it is for toys, tools or apartments.
Someone always wants a better deal and is willing to spend the time on the internet to find it.
What happens if you are in standing water in a field? Would the tires get stuck in the dirt as the water disappears and the dirt hardens? Would you be able to drive out of it.
Would you tear your tires trying to drive out of it? These are some of the questions that people research and if they think of the questions then I always make the assumption that there is a piece of property nearby that would fit the reason they are asking.
We live in an area where two streets over if it rains real hard the street floods and no one can get to their house until the following day when the water recedes.
