Assembling the Handle and Hose Clip

• Unpack your Hoover carpet cleaner and lay the parts out in an organized manner in a semi-circle, so that each part is easy to reach.
  
  Attach the upper handle by first removing the solution tank located in the upper part of the chassis. With the cord hook facing the back of the cleaner, push the upper handle down into the lower handle and push the two handle bolts into the holes on the front of the lower handle. With a Phillips-head screw driver, use the matching nuts to tighten the upper handle to the lower handle.
  
  When the handle parts are affixed, squeeze the trigger located at the top of the upper handle to snap the trigger rod into place. Re-insert the solution tank by sliding it into the upper chassis until the solution tank handle clicks into place.
  
  Clip the power cord into the clip located on the back left side of the chassis, and pull the chord taught.
  
  Attach the hose clip to the side of the lower handle by pressing the hose clip tab into the hole located on the left side of the lower handle. Pivot the hose clip and push the second hose clip tab into the hole located on the back side of the lower handle section.
  
  

Attaching the Hose Rack

• With the hose rack piece in hand (make sure to remove the taped screw from the hose rack piece), insert the hose rack piece tabs into the hose rack slots on the lower part of the chassis near the rear wheels. Slide the hose rack downward, insert the screw into the hold in the middle of the hose rack piece and tighten with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  
  Pull the hose up through the front section of the hose clip (on the left-hand side), up and around the hose clip located at the top of the upper handle, then back down the right side of the unit, wrapping it under the hose rack.
  
  Continue wrapping the hose until you can clip the end of the hose into the back part of the hose clip on the left side of the lower handle.
  
  

General Use

• To use your Hoover carpet cleaner, fill the solution tank with hot water and the appropriate amount of Hoover carpet cleaning solution. The unit is set to clean floors by default, so you only need to adjust the speed selector (located on the front base of the unit) to "Off," "High" or "Low."
  
  The "On/Off" pedal is located on the left side of the base. Use your foot to toggle the Hoover carpet cleaner on and off.
