When Corners of the Mouth Are Sore, it is Time to Act
The corners of the mouth become inflamed and finally lesions appear that look like paper cuts or splits at the corners of the lips.
Sometimes it is just chaffed lips while other times the fungal bacteria responsible flare up and the angular cheilitis flares in full bloom.
Most people who suffer through these symptoms often find the flare up is there all the time.
Like most ailments, it should clear up by itself, however for some, angular chelitis can be constant and an ongoing source of discomfort for years and even decades.
The problem often is that the medical profession seem to favor prescribing 1% hydro-cortisone cream which really does nothing to assist the condition.
Angular cheilitis is not a dangerous condition, it is not life threatening, but it is debilitating socially and kissing someone can be a thing you don't feel like doing.
This may seem like a minor thing, but in actual fact, over time, if a sufferer simply cannot get rid of the infection, it can really take a toll not sharing affection with others.
Another problem is the way the lips look.
The lesion affects with a whitish hue and there is redness around the corners of the lips.
Even heavey make up cannot conceal the dry flaked, rough skin.
This can be a concern because people don't know what it is and may make comments.
It can be a source of embarrassment for many.
