Brady brings Arianna a glass of wine and she “accidentally” spills it on herself, then proceeds to go and get changed. She says she also has inventory tonight and gives him a brief kiss. He jokes how maybe next time they’ll stay out until 9:00. Arianna makes a phone call and says she’s on her way.
On the Docks
Philip arrives on the docks and finds a badly injured Carlo, who tells Philip to get out of there.
Philip calls 911 and informs the dispatcher that they’re at the docks behind the Kiriakis warehouse, and a man has been shot. He tries to stop the bleeding as sirens are heard in the background. Carlo tells Philip to look out for his wife and fears that Victor will be furious. The EMTs arrive on the scene and attend to Carlo. Philip introduces himself to Officer Dean, assuming the cop wants to talk to him, but Dean points to Bo.
Carlo is on a gurney, and Philip assures him that he’ll call Joyce, his wife. After the EMTs take Carlo away, Bo asks if Carlo has kids, and Philip confirms that he has a boy and a girl. Philip tells his brother to find out who did this. “Right after I find out who popped you, who kidnapped Stefano, who kidnapped Stephanie,” rehashes Bo. Bo believes they’ll never find out who is behind the recent crimes, implying how they have two old men who always have air tight alibis and their sons do what they do because of their loyalty to the family. “So you see bro, I can’t help ya,” shrugs Bo.
Bo points out the good side, in that he gets to go home to his wife and child and sleeps well at night.
Back at the Hospital
Lexie gives instructions to a couple of the staff members as Nathan returns and quietly tells Steph that he forgot to sign out. Lexie asks Stephanie to hand her a file, then notes that Dr. Horton is back. She begins to take a look at Nathan’s sheet and sees that everything’s in perfect order, mentioning how meticulous his paperwork is. After Lexie walks off, Nathan is relieved that Steph helped him out.
Bo arrives with Philip and asks Kim the nurse if there’s any word on the victim with the gunshot wound. Kim informs Bo that Carlo died en route to the hospital. Bo gives Philip the bad news. Philip admits that he should’ve called the EMTs as soon as Carlo called him. “He bled to death because he’s loyal to the family,” laments Philip. Bo brings up how Carlo had a boy and jeers how maybe they’ll enroll him in the “Kiriakis apprentice program” and follow in his father’s footsteps. The brothers spar back and forth before Bo proceeds to go talk to the medical examiner.
Melanie approaches Philip and asks if he’s okay. Joyce, Carlo’s widow, arrives and asks Philip what happened and how her husband is. Nurse Kate tells Melanie to move it and get back to work. A concerned Melanie takes her files and walks off. A hesitant Philip apologizes to Joyce, who responds by slapping him and calling him a son of a bitch. A distraught Joyce wonders if he’s there to pay her off and to make sure she keeps quiet. She yells at him to get away from her, and he repeatedly apologizes.
Kiriakis Mansion
Lucas meets Kate and assumes that his mom believes he’s not strong enough to lead his own life. Kate complains how it’s supposedly all her fault when he marries a woman even though she warned him against it. “You didn’t tell me they were having an affair. You all knew it!” he confronts. Kate insists that Lucas doesn’t know the hell she went through trying to protect him. He lashes out at his mom and recalls the first time he found out about Daniel and Chloe, and the whole thing literally blew up. Kate wonders how he knows about the explosion. He reveals that he had a long talk with Daniel, who told him that Chloe wanted him and they were going to be together until Chloe made a pact with God. He chastises Kate for knowing the whole truth all along and purposely pairing them up on the show together, along with being obsessed with the food on the show. A furious Lucas demands to know why she knocked the deviled egg out of his hand and threw it in the sink. “Is that why you poisoned my wife?” he accuses.
Kate turns on the crocodile tears and claims she can’t believe that Lucas would take Daniel’s word over hers. Lucas believes his mom is resentful because Daniel dumped her and moved on. “I dumped him!” shouts Kate. Lucas sarcastically yells how Daniel left all that evidence around on the set of their show and at his apartment since he’s dying to get caught. Kate points out what Daniel and Chloe did to him. “Look what you did to me. You turned me into your damn lapdog, and you ran my life by remote control! And you watched me marry a woman who was in love with somebody else!” he retorts. “I wanted you to be happy!” she bellows. Lucas declares that there’s nothing left to talk about. She admits that she knew Chloe was cheating on him and cries how it tormented her. Lucas walks out.
Back to Jail
Hope goes to see Daniel and relays from Kate that there’s no change in Chloe and the prognosis isn’t good. Daniel is upset to learn that Kate was in the room with Chloe and there was no guard. Daniel offers to pay for a guard himself and fiercely warns that Chloe will die if he is in jail. Hope tells Daniel that Kate knows what he’s saying about her, so she can’t make a move against Chloe, believing it will undo everything Kate has put together. Daniel notes how Hope talks as though she believes him. “My belief means nothing. It’s what the D.A. believes, and then the jury,” she responds. She answers her phone, then tells Daniel to hang in there.
Stalker Kate later enters Daniel’s jail cell to find him sleeping.
Elsewhere
Philip later sits down outside, feeling guilty over what happened to Carlo. He perks up when he sees Stephanie appear. He walks up to her and has something to say which is really important.
Melanie goes to the Kiriakis mansion looking for Philip, but Henderson informs her that he’s not home.
Arianna is back at the pub when her shipment of drugs arrives. She hands the guy an envelope of cash. Brady soon arrives and asks who the guy is.
Lucas arrives back at the hospital and sits down beside Chloe, asking her why.
