God of War Strategies
- Attack enemies quickly and aggressively. The longer a battle goes on, the greater chance a group of enemies will have to surround you or increase their strength. Use knockdown attacks to disrupt groups of enemies. The Plume of Prometheus attack works particularly well to throw enemies off their feet, while the Ascension attack can throw enemies into the air. Continue to attack stunned enemies to dispatch them without fear of counterattack. Knockdown attacks are crucial to defeating stronger enemies, such as the Minotaur.
Keep moving. Jump and use the roll move to evade enemy attacks. If you notice that a group of enemies is starting to surround you, roll away quickly. Corner groups of enemies against a wall or other object to give yourself the upper-hand.
Learn the attack patterns and vulnerabilities of each type of enemy. Cyclopses are slow and powerful, requiring you to attack quickly from a distance. Gorgons are quick and evasive, but can be launched into the air. Experiment with different attacks to find an enemy's weakness. - Midway through the game you will obtain the Blade of Artemis. This blade is stronger than the Blades of Chaos, but it is also slower and has a shorter range. The Blade of Artemis works well in close-quarters fights against Cerberus pups and Legionnaires; however, it is less useful against larger or faster enemies.
As you progress through the game, you will also gain access to new magic powers. You can upgrade these powers with the red orbs you obtain from killing enemies. Poseidon's Rage, the first magic power you obtain, is also one of the most powerful, especially if upgraded to its maximum level. The Army of Hades power is effective against large swarms of enemies. Medusa's Gaze is significantly more effective if upgraded to the second level, as the Gorgon Flash skill can freeze enemies instantly. Zeus' Fury is less effective, so do not waste red orbs upgrading it until your other powers have been strengthened. - Explore every inch of the game world. Many treasure and orb chests are hidden away from the main path. If you see a suspicious ledge or room, it likely leads to a hidden area. Smash every object with your weapons, since many contain red orbs. Swing your weapons at objects or suspicious walls. If you hear a high-pitched clank when you hit an object, it means the object can be destroyed.
