Roxy Snowboards Carves Out A Niche

You might not have heard of Roxy snowboards unless you are a girl. And that occurs quite uncommonly in snowboard companies. For a variety of snowboards that are specially intended for the fairer sex you may want to check out roxy snowboards, they are an entire line dedicated to the ladies. Not all companies in the industry have complete lines dedicated to women. Rome, Burton, K2, all these big companies offer women's boards. Roxy positions itself aside by providing nothing else. But does this rare specialization mean a legit go-to company for girls or is it just an expensive trick trying to pull in buyers with cutesy graphics?

In order to figure that out, you'll have to delve into the history of Roxy a bit. Roxy is a Quiksilver fashion line, and it has become a top sports clothing brand. Two years post its launch, Roxy began developing gear for snow sports. During the 2003 season, Roxy started making snowboards with styles similar to their clothes. Lots of people in this industry were astonished when a corporation devoted itself to one sex, however, both the style and manufacturing have found them enough consumers to stay in business. With their market position strong, now the company's offerings include a large selection of entry boards, as well as the boards pros shred on.

However, initially returning to that manufacturing thing. Roxy isn't a cheap brand churned out by the store-load. They are made by Mervin Manufacturing, the same guys who give us some of the unbelievable technology behind hyper-popular boards like the Lib Tech Banana and top-end GNU boards. The Roxy snowboard produced by Mervin is being included along with all the other boards produced by this company to add Magne Traction technology to it. Obviously, Mervin Manufacturing has been able to do this as a result of being acquired by Quiksilver, in a deal made in the 1990's.

Roxy is also helped by the ability of their pro riders. Torah Bright is the foremost name you might be familiar with. Her latest Bright Series is only one of the segments that Roxy is expanding into. With Torah there are riders Sarah Burke, who has won the X-Games Gold Medal twice and Kjersti Buaas, an Olympic snowboard participant. These ladies have conquered parks that would leave most guys on their backs.

Whether or not you are still uncertain if Roxy is legitimate, you have to know that the girls on the Roxy team surely are. And having great pros is a great boon to the company since the feedback they provide is instrumental in improving the line. However the bottom line with any kind of snowboards, is that the person who rides is the one who decides if the board is good. You could argue that pretty much any snowboard manufacturer can be a good one, simply by fitting their target audience. Roxy's niche is the lady boarder searching a class board, maybe a board that has attractive graphics. If you like the look, you have to ride one. There is only one single method of confirming the board is functioning correctly for you. A Roxy snowboard is similar to any other snowboard, you could fall off it or you could get attracted to it. At times, its both.
