How to Replace an Auger Shear Pin on a Honda Snowblower
- 1). Place the snowblower on a level, steady surface. Switch the snowblower key to the "Off" position and remove the key from the ignition. Remove the wire cap from the spark plug.
- 2). Examine the shear pins for breakage. If any of the shear pins are broken, pull the remaining pieces of the pins free from the auger with the vise-grip pliers. Rotate the auger, as needed, to access all the pin pieces. If only one or two of the pins are broken, still remove all of the pins and replace them.
- 3). Remove any remaining unbroken pins with the socket wrench and the 6-mm open-end wrench.
- 4). Check the drive shaft for any pieces of the shear pins remaining in the drive shaft pin holes. Tap out any pieces with the screwdriver and mallet.
- 5). Align the pin holes in the auger with the pin holes in the drive shaft. Insert the new shear pins through the auger and drive shaft. Thread a 6-mm nut onto each shear pin and tighten them with the socket wrench and open-end wrench.
