Camping Safety 101

A camping trip can be a fun experience for the entire family but it also can be dangerous.
There is only a small sheet of tent cloth separating the humans from the terrain and animals found in the forest.
It is important to keep camping safety in mind at all times when on a trip.
Campers should pack a first aid kit containing basic materials.
A list of recommended items can be found online or requested in advance from the campground.
The kit should be packed in a waterproof marked container and everyone should know where it is located.
Campers should brush up on their first aid and CPR skills, because one never knows when these will be needed.
Once at the campsite, all campers should think before they act.
Doing things like approaching or feeding wild animals is not recommended.
These critters can be cute, but remember that the forest is their home, not yours.
Keep a safe distance from woodland creatures, snakes, and spiders.
Wear bug repellent in order to prevent being stung by insects.
Their bites are not only a nuisance, they can become infected or cause allergic reactions.
Campers with allergies should carry medication at all times.
All campers should wear sunglasses and sunscreen when out during the day, even if it is cloudy.
Adults should keep an eye on the weather and pack up if conditions get severe.
In any type of weather, campers should stick together and supervise children at all times.
The forest can be an adventure turned nightmare if a child gets lost or falls in the water.
The entire family should practice water and fire safety techniques during the trip in order to prevent accidents.
Camping safety is something that should be in the back of every camper's mind during the trip.
Packing a first aid kit, sticking together, and acting cautiously are keys to having fun in a safe manner.
The family will make camping a way of life when they enjoy the experience.
