Traditional Wedding Favors

• The traditional wedding favors are the ones that you would find on the table when your ancestors were getting married. They are simple, yet elegant, and serve as a reminder for your guests of the enchanting event they attended, your wedding. You can go with the classic candy covered almonds in a colored piece of netting. The netting can be the color that coordinates best with your theme color (flowers, bridesmaids gowns, and so forth). It can be purchased by the yard in any fabric store. The almonds can be purchased at any candy selling store. You can place a significant number of candies in each square piece of net. For example, if you met on the seventh of a month, place seven candies in the netting. The net will need to be hand cut into squares and you can use ribbon to tie it off as a pouch. Try and find a number under ten that has significance to you and your loved one, you do want to keep the cost down. Over ten coated candies looks bulky. Write a saying about your day and print small copies the size of a match book and attach it to the netted candies. On one side of the paper have your names and wedding date, on the other, the saying. An example of what to say is: " The six almonds in this pouch signifies the six beautiful years of our friendship and love that has led us to this date." Attach the note by using a paper punch and putting a hole in one corner of the note. Then run the ribbon through it before tying up the pouch. It is a beautiful thought and people will cherish it. With the cost of the netting, the candy almonds, the ribbon, and printed note, (you need to do this yourself or have a friend do it on the computer), each favor should cost no more than ninety cents.
  
  

Get Creative With Your Wedding Favors

• Now for something really different. You can make the same type of pouches, but with material. You can put your favorite type of flower seeds in the pouch. You can get the seeds at a discount store, there can be a variety of them. Get material from your local fabric store, some beautiful floral material, and cut the material into 5X5 squares. Pick up some matching ribbon, enough to tie enough pouches off for each of your guests. When you are ready to assemble, open all the seed envelops and pour them all into a large bowl. Cut your material and place the seeds in the middle. Tie it up in a pouch. You will need to print out a note from the computer for each one. Again, each note being about the size of a match book. On this note you can ask your guests to plant these flowers as a lasting memory from your special day. Include the planting instructions and care on one side of this attached note. On the other side you can print your names and date with a little saying about the flowers being a remembrance from your big day. This is a great thought, and a green thought. Your quests will remember your special day each time they look at their garden and see the flowers that grew from those seeds. This too is under one dollar for each person. It can actually be done for eighty cents per person. You only need to put a pinch of seeds in each favor. This is a great touch to add to your perfect day.
