We are often told that writing is an art, a talent. If this is the case, then think of blogging as a way of using your words as art. When blogging, people tend to use words that relate their emotions, desires and thoughts. This, in turn, makes them an artist in their own sense.

Many people are familiar with the idea of keeping a daily journal. This has, in the past, been basically just a notebook or "journal" that people would use to write the events of their day, special feelings, things they may be going through on that day, etc. When the blogging industry began, some people began to keep their personal journals online in the form of a blog, instead of writing in a journal notebook. In general, most blogs are created for an individual's personal use.

With the onset of online businesses, blogs were taken to a new level. Many companies began to use blogs as a way to talk about their company, the services they provide, and as a way to let people know they had an online business. Their businesses web presence is advertised in the form of the blog, which also helps in sending visitors to their main business website.

If you played around with the idea of starting a blog, either for your own pleasure or for business reasons, I have a few suggestions and ideas that could help you get through the initial questions and maybe even make yours one of the more interesting blogs:

1. Think About Your Audience

This is very important, even if you are just going to have a personal blog. You need to blog about things that would be interesting to other people who are going to read it. There are blogs that are strictly for one's personal pleasure. There are blogs that some people write just because they would love to know that someone else is reading their "voice". It's very important to make sure you are writing in a way that everyone can interpret and understand.

2. The Importance of Pictures

You are most likely familiar with the phrase "a picture speaks a thousand words". This is very true in the blogging world. Use pictures that relate to things you are blogging about. You don't have to use your own picture, unless you'd like to. But, for example, if you're blogging about vacation ski destinations, use a picture of a resort that you are currently talking about.

3. Make Your Blog Beneficial to Your Reader

Most people visit and read blogs because they are looking for something.. information. Yes, you are certainly free to write about anything you would like to on your blog. But why not take the time to give your readers some particular type of information they are looking for, and give them a reason to come back and read more of your blog.

4. Keep it Simple

Keep this in mind.. speak in your own voice. Use the same type of wording you would use if you were talking to your best friend sitting right next to you. Don't use a lot of technical and obscure words. Most people are probably just going to scan the blog initially to see if it looks interesting to them. Seeing words they don't understand probably won't bring them back to your blog again.

5. Have an Interactive Blog

This means getting people involved. This can be done simply by posting audio or video on your blog. You can allow readers to leave feedback and comments. You can post questionnaires and polls on your blog. There are endless ways of getting people to interact with your blog.

As you can see, blogs serve a purpose in the internet world. And for those who have an artistic ability to put words down and creatively and commercially, blogs are the best way to do it!
