Encouraging More Government Spending Will Not Bring About Fiscal Responsibility
There are some fundamental flaws in common sense with regards to the federal debt ceiling.
You see, it's been raised, and re-raised, and it keeps getting raised.
Each time it is called a crisis, and we are told that we have to keep spending to keep the economy intact.
That's like telling someone to keep spending on their credit cards, or they can't eat.
Obviously, this makes no sense at all, and if the economy is in that bad of shape, then there are fundamental flaws in thinking and in its overall structure.
Raising the debt won't fix that.
You see, encouraging greater government spending cannot possibly bring about financial responsibility in the future, which, by the way is something we drastically need.
Simply pretending there will be a future calamity or crisis is no reason to raise the debt ceiling, without getting your house in order.
Because if there is a catastrophic economic crisis in our future, and it is that inevitable then it will be much worse later on with more debt.
It is only common sense that you can't borrow your way out of debt, and yet our government, and even the Obama Administration swears that we must.
That just doesn't pass the smell test.
Now the government says it needs to raise our taxes to help pay down the debt.
No, the government needs to go on a diet, stop wasting money, and stop subsidizing industries to prop them up.
The reason that it costs so much these days to go to college, is because the government has been providing easy money for tuition through guaranteeing student loans.
The reason health care costs have gone up almost at the same rate as China's GDP year-over-year is because the government keeps throwing money at it, and is funding healthcare.
In fact most of the problems we have in the United States have come from government, and now they say they need more money to throw at the problem that they've created.
Doesn't that sound a lot like a teenager or young adult who has gotten themselves into a financial problem with credit cards? Yes, young people, especially adolescents make very poor choices with their financing, it's all about the here and now, and they don't seem to be planning for the future.
If your teenager is running up credit card debt, and you realize that you are eventually going to pay for it, what do you do? You take away the credit card, that's just common sense.
So, may I ask what the problem is with asking government to live within its means, stop taxing us so much, and stop spending? Come on, this is really simple stuff.
Why should the American people agree to perpetuate a Ponzi scheme? Why should Americans have to live within their means, when the government which claims to be leading by example is setting such a poor one? You see, the problem is that Americans have forgotten their common sense, and they have forgotten that we are the government.
And yes we can take away the federal government's credit card.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
