Decisions! Decisions! Yes! No! The Lady or the Tiger? Help! I Can"t Decide!
I was outside today playing ball with Dafka, my co-therapist.
He actually had two balls.
One was a big, blue soccer ball and the other was a round, white ball.
It was made out of strong, heavy kong rubber and was about twice the size of a tennis ball.
He carries both of these in his mouth and not at the same time, of course.
We were playing with the white ball.
I would throw it and he would run after it, pick it up and bring it back to me.
The blue ball was on the ground next to me.
Eventually, I decided to throw that one and Dafka was fine with that.
He would pick that one up and bring it back.
Then, one of my throws was a bad throw.
He couldn't get it right away and the blue ball went down the stairs into our alley.
In the meantime, the white ball was on the ground next to me.
Dafka stopped suddenly.
He looked at me, looked at the white ball next to me, and then ran over and looked down the stairs.
I could see the wheels turning in his head.
Which one should I go after? Should I go after the blue one which is far away, in his mind, or pick up the white one which is right here? He would come over to the white ball and sniff it, look at me, and then run to the stairs and look down the alley.
"What should I do?" I could almost hear him thinking that, as he kept running back and forth between the two places.
What was he going to do? Would he take a risk and go down the stairs and get the blue ball, or would he play it safe and pick up the white ball? He kept coming over to me and looking at me as if asking, "What should I do?" I started thinking about what I would do if I had a tough decision to make.
I know what I would do.
What would you do? Would you take a risk not knowing what might be at the end or would you play it safe? Well, Dafka decided to take a risk.
He must have figured that I wouldn't disappear with the white ball.
He ran down the stairs and brought the blue ball back.
You could almost see him smiling at his decision and the end result.
"Yeah, I made the right decision!" We were able to start playing again.
