Why is Paintball So Expensive?

It's a question we all ask ourselves after reaching into our wallets and grabbing nothing but air after a weekend of playing paintball.
Can't it be cheaper? Why do we have to bust out $50-$100 to play every weekend? Well...
there are a number of factors you need to take account for.
Like many extreme sports out there, with paintball comes a liability issue on the field owners and manufacturers part.
To cover the cost of insurance and the potential cost for legal cases, companies and fields figure prices to cover them accordingly.
Now if everyone promised never to sue, then we'd have a cheaper sport...
but since that isn't the case, we are going to have to deal with the higher prices.
Now liability isn't the only cost suppliers and field owners have to cover, they have to take into account that the paintball industry is full of middlemen.
Middlemen like National Paintball Supply that cut into the profits.
This is the big reason why paintballs are so expensive.
In short, paintballs and field entry fees account for most of the profit field owners bring in, and those will only go up if they cannot make as much money selling equipment because of the amount of competition.
So whats the solution? The solution lies in the hands of Dye, Smart Parts, Tippmann, and all the other paintball companies out there.
In order to battle this dilemma, they need to stop handing out retail accounts like lollipops and get their head back into the game, because if they don't, they'll be the ones to blame if paintball dies.
