Psoriasis treatment regimes at the Dead Sea
Unlike other psoriasis treatments that may entail weekly treatments spread out over many months, a course of treatments at the Dead Sea to alleviate the effects of psoriasis, usually takes about three weeks of daily treatments, with each treatment consisting of various stages that increase in length. On average, the length of a beginning psoriasis treatment is around two hours and over the course of the treatment period, this can be extended to up to five hours. Treatment includes up to two 20 minute sessions in the waters of the Dead Sea, gradually increasing exposure to the low UV sunlight and the use of Dead Sea mud packs to remove dead skin and nourish the fresh skin below.
The majority of the hotels around the Dead Sea offer facilities for psoriasis treatment and other therapies and health treatments. Most have a roof top solarium where you can take your daily dose of sunlight along with other psoriasis sufferers. Many people with psoriasis choose to sunbathe naked in order to ensure that every part of their body is exposed to the therapeutic effect of the sun's rays. Many hotels have special areas for those wishing to sunbathe in this fashion and there is also a fenced off public beach area for nude sunbathing.
Three weeks may sound like a very long time, but the success rate is unbelievably high. Research carried out by the Dead Sea research unit has shown that over 90% of psoriasis sufferers experience an almost total clear up of symptoms and signs within 10 days and a total eradication by the end of the three weeks psoriasis treatment. Even more amazing is the fact, supported by scientific evidence, that over 90% of those with psoriasis who underwent a full course of treatment at the Dead Sea, remained free of the signs of psoriasis for up to nine months! Additionally, when the psoriasis symptoms begin to reappear (there is no cure for psoriasis) they are far less obvious and their development is significantly slowed down.
If you need further proof of the effectiveness of the Dead Sea on psoriasis, consider the fact that many health authorities and insurance companies in the European Union either subsidize or fund completely psoriasis treatments at the Dead Sea.
