How to Install Electical Wiring for a Light
- 1). Turn the electricity off before starting. Connect the 12-gauge 110 wire from the breaker box to the light switch and use the wire cutters to cut off what you need. Put black electrical tape around the wire on the light switch for safety precautions.
- 2). Connect the 110 wire from the light switch to the area where you are putting the light. Hook up the light by using the color-coded wires with wire nuts and electrical tape. The black wire goes on the black wire, the white wire goes on the white wire, and the ground wire goes on the ground wire. The black wire is positive, the white wire is negative, and the ground wire is the copper wire. Make sure you ground it off at the breaker box.
- 3). Put the 110 wire in the 20-amp breaker and tighten it in with the flat or Philips screwdriver, depending on what type of breaker box you have. Put the breaker in the breaker box. Make sure the light switch is off.
- 4). Put the light bulb in and turn the breaker on. Turn the electricity back on. Turn the light switch on.
