How to Trace a Wire Transfer
- 1). Locate the bank routing number of the debit bank. The Federal Reserve Financial Services website allows you to look up the bank contact information using the debit bank account routing number, name or city and state (see the Resources section).
- 2). Use the bank information obtained to call the debit account bank. Ask for the wire transfer department.
- 3). Ask the bank employee for a trace wire to be sent on an outgoing wire transfer. You will be required to supply the debit bank with the beneficiary bank account information, such as the routing, transit and account numbers, and the beneficiary name and address.
