How to Try Meditation
Meditation All too frequently meditation is associated with monks and religious cults.
It is more and more becoming mainstream and a part of people's everyday life.
In reality meditation only means ridding your mind of as much interference as possible and seeing what transpires.
Ways to Meditate You will find that everyone has his own idea of what meditation is and how it works.
I am no different.
So I am going to describe what I think meditation is and how you can adapt it to your particular lifestyle and interests.
An easy way of beginning to meditate is to set yourself a time for getting up when the household is still asleep, quiet and the time when there are no extraneous noises or disturbances.
Go to a spot that is comfortable for you.
If you sleep with someone get up quietly and go lie down on the couch in your robe and just lie there for fifteen minutes or so and literally do nothing.
By just lying there and not intentionally putting anything in your mind you will find that little by little things will creep in that you didn't expect.
It won't be on day one likely.
There will have to be a few attempts before you will be able to really just lie there and think of nothing.
It seems like an easy assignment, but in reality if this is your first attempt it will likely take a few goes before anything really happens.
Eventually you will find that you have been there with nothing happening at all.
Then without warning you will feel something.
More than likely the first real meditation will be a feeling and nothing more.
It can be a feeling of ease.
It can be just comfortable.
It can be a feeling of relaxing.
It can be a feeling of letting stress go.
There is no secret formula.
Meditation will do for you whatever it wants to.
You just have to get out of the way of it.
Results of Meditation As opposed to popular opinion there is nothing really extraordinary or special about meditating.
For me the best thing about beginning each day with 15 minutes of meditating is that I start with a kind of peace that comes from not jumping out of bed straight into the shower and beginning the day with a rush during which I panic about what is to be done.
By getting up 15 minutes earlier than I have to gives me the time to just accept that I am alive and am going to have a profitable day because I am beginning it stress free.
If you really get to the point, which is very attainable, of having 15 minutes of quiet and peace before you dash into your daily routine you will find that you will soon begin to discover that life is beautiful and that your day is going to be great because you have begun it at peace and with the inside feeling that all is right with the world.
Conclusion Obviously there is much more to meditation than this, but I suggest that this is a great way to begin you journey into meditating for joy, peace, pleasure and inspiration.
After you accomplish this basic technique there are things to do to increase the value and importance of your daily meditation.
