Horses Training - How to Teach Your Horse to Yield to Light Pressure

Does your horse know his own strength? If so, that's not a good thing.
Here's what I mean.
We want to teach horses by pressure and release training.
Thus, we will use horse trainer pressure and release methods.
It's likely the biggest horse training principle there is.
If we're not aware of it, we can actually teach a horse to realize his own strength and work him against us.
For instance, if a rider uses constant pressure with the reins, the horse will learn to lean into that pressure.
You've likely heard how important it is to give when the horse gives...
this is why.
Horses are an "into pressure" animals.
In other words, unless they've been taught to give to pressure then they will lean into it.
Lots of people don't understand that and it can really frustrate someone who doesn't understand that that is the horse's nature.
It's instinctual for them to lean against pressure and they have to be taught to yield to it.
That means whether you pull or push on them that they need to yield to it because either pulling and pushing are still pressure.
The problem is that if he learns to do that and there comes a day when you need to pull his head around for stopping, chances are not good you'll be able to.
So make your rein pressure in short bursts instead of constant pulling.
Pull just a little and let him give so he knows he can.
Even if he had a harsher bit in his mouth and you still pulled, he can out-pull you.
Horses have amazing pain tolerance and you simply can't win.
This reveals the importance of teaching your horse to give.
The least amount of pressure they yield to is even better yet.
