What's Special About the Hilton Santo Domingo?:
At the time of its opening in 2005, this modern hotel in the first city of the Americas had a lot of firsts itself: the only feather duvets, the largest casino, the largest and most modern meeting spaces.
The 21-story tower takes full advantage of views with a 20th floor aquarium-themed Executive Lounge, the Sol Y Sombra restaurant and bar with floor-to-ceiling windows, and glass elevators in the atrium lobby.
Guest Rooms and Suites:
228 guest rooms including 32 suites feature down comforters with duvet covers, high-speed Internet access, and cable TV with a large selection of channels in English. Rooms on the Executive Floor feature wireless Internet, a Lounge overlooking the ocean serving breakfast and cocktails, a large work desk, a rain showerhead, and a fish bowl with a Hilton blue fish.
Dining at the Hilton Santo Domingo:
Choices include a la carte menus at lunch and dinner and the buffet at Sol and Sombra; afternoon tea at Vista Bar & Lounge; the outdoor La Torre Terrace, and the Akwa Pool Bar.
Business and Meetings:
The hotel caters to business travelers with a business center that offers PCs, color photocopies, high speed and wireless Internet, and secretarial services. State of the art meeting facilities include a ballroom that seats up to 550 banquet-style and meeting rooms with floor-to-ceiling views of the Caribbean.
Recreation at Hilton Santo Domingo:
The 7th floor swimming pool is an oasis from the busy streets below, and a dolphin mosaic at the bottom adds a whimsical touch. On ground level, the attached shopping center Melacon houses retail, business offices and the city's largest casino.
Spa and Fitness Center:
A full service fitness center takes advantage of sea views. The spa was not open at this writing, but is scheduled to be complete in early 2006.
