How to Open a Locked GE Oven
- 1). Let your GE oven cool if the lock engaged while baking. The lock may disconnect after the oven completely cools. If the lock fails to release once the oven cools, move to the next step.
- 2). Pull the oven from the wall if you have a free-standing range. Unplug the range from the wall outlet for 30 seconds. Disconnect the power by turning off the breaker at the main electrical service panel for a built-in oven.
- 3). Replace the wall plug and push the free-standing range back against the wall. If you turned off the breaker, turn it back on at the panel. If the oven fails to open after disconnecting the power, move to the next step.
- 4). Turn the oven to self-clean for 1 to 2 hours. Allow the oven to cool for 30 minutes after the oven cleaning and try to open the oven door. The door lock should reset and release the oven door. If the door still fails to open, the locking mechanism has failed. Contact GE Customer Service at 1-800-432-2737.
