    • 1). Set the motorcycle on the lift, hanging off as much of the rear end off of the lift so there is ample clearance to the rear suspension. Strap the motorcycle to the lift using the ratcheting tie-down straps. Lift the motorcycle until the rear wheel is at least 8 inches off the ground.

    • 2). Unbolt the rear rear horn located on the left side of the frame rail, on the lower portion. Unbolt the front shock assembly bolt using an open-end wrench, then remove the nut on the other end as well. Lift up the rear tire using the jack until the shock bolts are loose, then remove the bolts by hand. Lower the shock assembly out of the frame.

    • 3). Disassemble the dog bones on the shock, which are the long tubes running parallel to the shock that have eyelets on the ends. Attach the longer or adjustable dog bones to the assembly with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench, making sure to use blue thread locking compound on the threads of the bolts.

    • 4). Slide the assembly up into the frame. Bolt the upper half of the assembly into the frame using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Then lift up the rear wheel with the jack until you can position the lower bolt through the other end of the dog bones and the shock. Then secure the hardware with the ratchet and a wrench.

    • 5). Lower the bike off of the lift and remove the ratcheting tie-down straps.
