How to Crop a Picture in Picasa

    Picasa Desktop Software

    • 1). Open Picasa. Click the "Start" button and begin typing "Picasa" in the search box; then select the program when it appears.

    • 2). Select the album with the picture you want to crop from the left-hand navigation pane.

    • 3). Double-click the picture you want to edit.

    • 4). Click "Crop" in the "Basic Fixes" section of the left-hand pane.

    • 5). Select the option you prefer for cropping from the drop-down menu in the left-hand pane. You can select "Manual," which gives you complete freedom to crop the picture however you prefer, or you can select an aspect ratio.

    • 6). Click and drag on a portion of the picture to begin cropping it. After drawing the initial crop rectangle, you can click on the sides of the cropped area to adjust them, and you can click on the corners to adjust two sides at once.

    • 7). Click "Apply" in the left-hand pane when you're finished.

    • 8). Click "Back to Library" near the top-left corner of the window to go back to viewing all your pictures.

    Picasa Web Albums

    • 1). Access your Picasa Web albums by navigating to "picasaweb.google.com/home". If you're not currently logged into your Google account, you'll need to provide your username and password.

    • 2). Click on the album with the picture in it you need to crop. If you don't see the album, click the "View all" link next to "My Recent Albums."

    • 3). Click on the picture you want to crop.

    • 4). Click the "Edit" button above the picture. This button is a generic image of a landscape, and the word "Edit" will appear if you hover your mouse cursor over it.

    • 5). Wait for the "Picnik" software to load in your browser.

    • 6). Click the "Crop" option above the picture.

    • 7). Adjust the crop settings to whatever you prefer. You can click on the sides of the cropped area to move them, and you can click on the corners of the area to adjust two sides at once.

    • 8). Click "OK" when you're done.

    • 9). Click "Save to my album" near the top-right corner of the editing section. "Picnik" will ask you if you want to replace the original picture or create a copy with the changes you made; select whichever option you prefer.
