Coping with a breakup is never easy. A lot of mixed up emotions will go tearing through your body in quick succession, sometimes leaving only confusion and sadness.

The first thing you need to do after losing the love of your life is to get clear in your own mind exactly how you feel towards your ex. Do not think about particular events like arguments or the fight that led to the breakup.

What you do want to do is find out if your ex has any interest in trying to put your relationship back together in a different and better way; a sort of second chance, if you will.

Discuss with him or her the issues you feel led to the relationship breakup and honestly seek their opinion and feelings toward those issues, or even issues they may come up with on their own. Are you both willing to work things out together and even compromise?

Maybe you mutually decide to go your own ways. But you may also find that you just care too much for each other to really give up. Gauge the willingness of both you and your ex partner to work hard to change any behavior you each have that is not conducive to a healthy relationship.

You can actually work together in coping with a breakup since you had and may still have love for each other. Honestly determine what is best for each of you and reconcile if you feel there is a second chance.
