A True Remedy For Dandruff

A true remedy for dandruff is not always possible but dandruff can be managed by using certain treatments and by making some minor changes in your lifestyle.
Its symptoms include an itchy and flaky scalp and inflammation of surrounding skin and tissues.
Dandruff is simply a milder form of seborrheic dermatitis.
However, it also can also be the sign of a more serious skin condition such as psoriasis.
It is most often caused by a yeast infection, excessive activity of oil glands, undue stress, high sugar intake and improper shampooing.
Others reasons for dandruff are improper blow drying of the hair and being on a low-fat diet.
Dandruff can be handled by just making a few life changes.
One thing that might prove very effective is to drastically reduce your daily sugar intake.
Be careful to avoid other sweetening agents like corn syrup, maple syrup, glucose and so on.
Eliminate ingesting breads, wines, cheeses and other food products containing yeast or yeast products.
When you wash your hair, use warm (not hot) water.
Try a very mild shampoo or an over-the-counter dandruff shampoo containing zinc or selenium.
You might also want to take a look at shampoos that contain coal-tar and salicylic acid for treating your dandruff.
It will take about six weeks for improvement to be apparent.
In the interim, if a certain shampoo losses its effectiveness, try changing to a different brand.
Also, avoid any hair styling products that contain alcohol because these products tend to dry out your scalp.
And, use caution with gels and so on because they will build up over time on your scalp.
If your dandruff problem doesn't improve with your home remedies, then it's time to see a dermatologist.
What you have may not be dandruff at all but a much more serious skin condition.
Your doctor will be able to help you deal with it through medications such as prescribed anti-dandruff shampoos.
Although a cure is not possible, a remedy for dandruff is available by just being conscientious on your part.
By eating right, following a careful hair-washing and drying routine and using the right shampoo will help you in your quest to eliminate that irritating itching and flaking that so often accompanies dandruff.
