How to Register a new business in DuPage County, IL

    • 1). Download, print and complete the Certificate of Ownership of a Business form. If you are taking the form to the clerk's office, someone there can notarize it for you. If you are mailing it in, have the form notarized prior to mailing. A $5 fee is payable by check for the business registration.

    • 2). File the form with the clerk's office.

    • 3). Place an ad in one of the local newspapers announcing the formation of your business. The County Clerk's Office will provide you with a sheet of instructions on how and where to place your ad. The ad must run for four weeks. After this time, the newspaper will notify the County Clerk's Office with a notarized copy of the ad. The County Clerk's Office will then mail a business license to you.
