How to Get CCRN Certified
- 1). Acquire your RN or APRN degree. You must be a licensed RN or APRN to take the certification test for the CCRN.
- 2). Practice as a registered nurse. The CCRN certification requires 1,750 hours in direct bedside care of critically ill or acute care patients in the two years prior to your application for the certification, and 875 of those hours must be in the year prior to your application.
- 3). Complete the application and honor statement page found in the exam application packet. You will need to fill in all requested information, including your legal name, date, RN or APRN license information, and the information of your verifier.
- 4). Register for the CCRN certification test. You can apply online or by mail. You will also need to include your application fee when you register to take the test. These fees can be paid by credit card or check.
- 5). Sit for the CCRN test on the designated date. You will receive a postcard in the mail detailing the date and time of your exam. You should receive your test results two to three weeks after taking the exam.
