There are a lot more sexy tattoos available than just the almost traditional collection of butterfly tattoos. Let's not forget that where the tattoo is placed can greatly affect its overall sexiness.

Tribal tattoo designs have become extremely popular recently and although they often are not considered sexy, if small and placed on the nape of the neck or round the belly button, they certainly can be.

Star tattoos, or a little cluster of stars, is another design that if kept small and placed in a discrete part of the body can be extremely sexy. Some people get them in the shape of their own zodiac sign to personalize it more.

A flower tattoo is a favorite of mine although I prefer something different to the traditional rose tattoo design. I've seen too many of them and I tend to like something more original and without the thorns.

The other traditional design that is still popular is the heart tattoo. Probably, next to a ship's anchor, the most commonly used tattoo design more associated with romance and sailors on leave. I wouldn't think it ranks well as a sexy tattoo.

Even though butterfly tattoos are probably still the most sexy with all the associated sexual innuendo there has been a rise in popularity of the fairy tattoos. Drawn in a subtly provocative way, the always female fairy can be beautifully sexy. On a discrete part of your body, I believe these to be the most sexy of all.

Whatever you consider to be the sexiest type of tattoo, do spend some time thinking of where to put it and be careful in choosing a design you will be happy with in the future.
