How to Join a Social Networking Group for Parents
- 1). Make strategic stops. Look for other parents, flyers announcing networking groups or bunches of people with kids hanging out at certain locations. Perhaps you will run across a group or those who know where to find one. These stops include playgrounds, toy stores, kid’s clothing stores or even pediatrician offices. You can even post flyers with your own information at these same places saying you are seeking such a group.
- 2). Contact organizations and schools. Schools, day care centers, youth organizations and other kid-oriented places may know of a parent group or at least where to send you for more information on them. Pick up a phone book and give them a call.
- 3). Go to the library. Many libraries offer comprehensive lists of events, organizations and even offer special activities for children. Take your kids to a couple and use their wealth of information to find more social situations.
- 4). Search at Meetup.com. Online Meetup groups are popping up all over the United States. They cover a range of topics from ghost hunting to Pekinese owning and often include at least one group for parents. Get online and look for a parents Meetup group in your area.
- 5). Create your own. If you still have failed to find a social networking group for parents, or at least one you want to join, start your own. It may be easier than you think. Begin with friends and branch out to others through flyers, contacting schools and libraries and other organizations to tell them to pass the word that you exist. Meet regularly at someone’s house, the park or other kid-friendly place.
