How to Connect a Propane Stove
- 1). Place the stove on a level, non-flammable surface at a comfortable height for cooking. The stove can be placed directly on the ground if no other surface is available.
- 2). Turn the gas valve, typically on the left side of the stove, so the valve opening faces the rear and the control knob is facing the front.
- 3). Remove the plastic safety cap from the threaded nozzle on the end of a propane canister.
- 4). Insert the threaded canister nozzle into the valve on the stove and turn the canister clockwise by hand until fully connected and the nozzle threads are all inside the valve.
- 5). Raise the stove cover, if the unit is equipped with a cover (single burner stoves typically do not have a cover), then push in the control knob on the valve assembly and turn the knob counter-clockwise to the "Ignite" or "Start" position.
- 6). Strike a match or ignite the lighter and touch the flame to the edge of the stove burner, which is a round or oval-shaped length of metal with small holes around the edge. The burner should immediately ignite. If not, shut off the gas at the valve, wait a moment for the escaped propane to clear, then try again.
