Zenyatta arrives at Churchill Downs
Zenyatta arrives at Churchill Downs
November 2, 2010
Tuesday morning was noticeably cooler than Monday, with the temperature in the low 40's and a light breeze. A number of Breeders' Cup contenders again took to the track and turf courses, but with only 1 timed work. Post positions were drawn 3 hours after the end of training.
Zenyatta arrived at Barn 41 at Churchill Downs on Tuesday just before noon. At 2:00am PT on Tuesday she left her barn to board a chartered Tex Sutton flight from Orange County Airport, with 10 other Southern California-based Breeders' Cup entrants, which left at 5:00am.
The plane landed at 11:30am ET at Louisville International Airport, and she boarded a chartered horse van accompanied by police escort, arriving at Barn 41 on the Churchill Downs backstretch at 11:50am.

More Zenyatta
After Zenyatta exited the horse van, She circled the paved laneway a few times, and then went to the large grassy courtyard to graze for about 15 minutes. She entertained the crowd by performing her Spanish walk and bowing several times, as well as posing still. Clearly this was the most anticipated arrival at the track in recent memory. There were even some fans on the Longfield Avenue sidewalk peering through the chain link fence to watch her.

Workforce
Workforce, the 7-5 morning line favorite in the Turf out of post 6, may be scratched from Saturday's race if the ground remains too firm for the Epsom Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner. His connections had been assured the course was "good" but there has been minimal rains in Louisville over the last 2 months. If he runs, regular rider Ryan Moore will be aboard.
Goldikova
Goldikova will attempt to become the first 3-time winner of a BC race when she breaks from post 10 in the Mile on Saturday. On Tuesday she jogged once around the main track the wrong way (clockwise on the outside rail). Regular rider Olivier Peslier will be aboard again for trainer Freddy Head.
Midday
Midday, defending champion in the Filly and Mare Turf, drew post 7 and is the 6-5 morning line favorite. She finished second in the Middleton Stakes in May and then won three straight G1 races, the Nassau, Yorkshire Oaks, and Prix Vermeille. Tom Queally will again be in the irons Friday for trainer Henry Cecil.
Paddy O'Prado
Paddy O'Prado drew post 2 for Saturday's Classic, and is 15-1 morning line. Trainer Dale Romans said, In a 12-horse field going 1 1/4, I don’t think there’s a bad post. I just like to have a horse on each side of me; that worked out well. I think Paddy O’Prado out of the 2-hole, he’s going to drop back and try to make one run anyway." Kent Desormeaux gets the call.
Morning Line
Morning Line is the 7-2 morning line favorite in the Dirt Mile out of post 10. He was sent out for a gallop by trainer Nick Zito, and will have Javier Castellano aboard on Saturday.
Evening Jewel
Evening Jewel drew post 5 in the Filly and Mare Sprint and is 15-1 on the morning line. Trainer James Cassidy opted for this spot instead of the Ladies Classic. Regular rider Victor Espinoza retains the mount on Friday.
Pashito the Che worked 4 furlongs on Tuesday morning in 51 4/5 seconds, and then drew post 6 in the Sprint at 15-1 morning line. Trainer Scott Lake said, "Love the position. Six on out would have been fine with us. On paper the 15-1 morning line is a fair assessment, but we're better than people think." Javier Castellano will be in the irons.
Grand Adventure drew post 11 in the Turf Sprint and is 12-1 on the morning line. Trainer Mark Frostad said, "I’d rather be on the outside than the inside with this horse. At five furlongs, it could get pretty rough down on the inside at the break." Regular rider Patrick Husbands gets the call on Saturday.
