Why do dogs whine? There may be many reasons behind such.
But it does not necessarily mean that we have to actually listen to the dog's whines.
It would take a great effort to stop a dog from whining.
You may use force and other techniques you can think of but it may only let your pet whine even more.
Surely you have experienced yelling at your dog to stop whining in the middle of the night.
More often than not, they did not stop and resulted in many sleepless nights for you.
Stopping whining require a lot of attention from you since you are the owner of that animal.
You can dig right down to get to the root of why your pet is whining.
There are three reasons why a dog whines.
They might be scared, anxious or in pain.
If the third is the reason, you may want to identify where the pain is and treat it immediately.
On the other hand, if it is regarding the first two reasons, there are ways that you can do to make sure that the whining that is coming from your dog stops.
You have to consider the fact that a dog whining does not necessarily mean that it is all the fault of the pet why they are doing such.
Maybe they are acting this way because they have become upset that you left them - this can happen especially if you did not train them to be left alone.
So they are assuming that you will not return anymore.
You have to make sure that you put a cut to all that whining.
In order to prevent your dog from whining that much, you must first be able to establish space that is just meant for the dog.
If this pet is not yet trained to sleep in crate while you are sleeping or are not in your home, then maybe you should start training him already.
You may also teach your dog to simply stay in just one room.
So instead of them whining, your dog has its own space where he can feel secure during the night or when you are away.
When you hear your dog whining at night, do not react immediately to stop them.
Wait for them to stop and then that is when you do something about it.
You should make them comfortable at night.
This is what you call desentisizing.
When you desentizise, you should provide your dog with enough space and that is where you will leave them in case you go out of the house.
Only when they have stopped whining will you go back to the room.
This strategy generally works but there are extreme cases when your pet experiences separation anxiety which you cannot handle.
When that happens, you may already want to get the services of an animal behavior expert.
He can be able determine what exactly is bringing about such anxiety.
Make sure every member of your household is made aware by the rules given by that professional to help your dog.
So take action now and you will be assured that you dog will change its behavior in no time.
