Before Melanie split Salem in 2012, she broke up with Chad for keeping a major secret from her: he knew that Gabi hired Andrew to be her stalker, which ultimately led the crazed kook to kidnap her. This week on Days of Our Lives, Melanie confronts Chad about their complicated past and things get heated. Are there still sparks between them?

After sharing a warm welcome home chat and a few hugs with Maggie, Melanie announces some big news.

"I'm moving back to Salem," she tells her elated grandmother.

Next, Melanie decides to pay a visit to the people she loves... and loved. First, she stops by to see her father Daniel and finds Nicole there much to her dismay. She's a little surprised to see the leggy blonde wearing nothing but a towel and questions what's up between Nicole and her dad.

After learning they're "just friends," Melanie heads off to see her ex-fiance and let him know she's home to stay. But is she ready to face the bad boy she left behind?

The mood is tense when Melanie arrives at the DiMera mansion and surprises Chad. Things, after all, ended badly and very abruptly between the twosome. Melanie dumped Chad, gave him back his engagement ring, and then took off on the next flight to Europe and never looked back.

"You were very clear about how you feel," Chad announces to his ex, clearly still bitter about the way she simply dismissed him and their relationship.

Melanie, however, who's fully aware of all the wheeling, dealing and scheming he's done over the years, isn't offering up any apologies.

She sees Chad for the ruthless man he's become, not the sweet college boy she believed him to be when she fell in love with him.

"You're a real DiMera," she says, as if the thought of that repulses her.

But Chad, who's feeling quite high and mighty since being named co-CEO of his family's company, promptly turns the tables on his ex. He asks, "Isn't that what attracted you in the first place?"

You can cut the tension -- both of the angry and sexual variety -- between the two former lovers with a knife. And there certainly appears that there are still plenty of sparks between them.

Might Days of Our Lives decide to revisit the Chad/Melanie coupling of yesteryear? And if the show does, what does that mean for Chad's blossoming romance with Jordan and his unrelenting interest in and calculated pursuit of Abigail? It looks like the soap may have a quadrangle on the horizon.
