    • Getting the perfect look for a costume party is important. Some costume parties feature themes, and the '80s is one of the most popular. If you find yourself invited to an '80s costume party but are stumped on what to wear, there are several options. The '80s featured a wide array of pop culture icons and influences that make for the perfect male costume.

    Boy George

    • As the lead singer of the group Culture Club, Boy George was just as famous for his flamboyant hair and clothes as he was for his singing. For a Boy George look, find a black bowler hat with a flat brim. Braid your hair in various sizes, weaving strands of colorful ribbon through some braids. Buy a wig if your hair isn't long enough to braid. Boy George wore plenty of makeup, including eye shadow and heavy eyeliner, plus bright-red lipstick. Go with dark pants and a baggy white shirt for clothing.

    Michael Jackson

    • Michael Jackson dominated the '80s with his music, and many took note of his style. Michael worked the "Thriller" look toward the beginning of the decade, then shifted to "Bad"-era clothing for the later part. Find a jacket that resembles his trademark, red and black leather jacket for the "Thriller" outfit. Red pants, white socks and black loafers complete the look. The "Bad" style was darker and edgier. Wear black pants with lots of buckles, heavily buckled belts, a black shirt and black boots. Search for curly wigs that match his hair as closely as possible. Complete with a pair of aviator sunglasses.

    Crockett and Tubbs

    • Crockett and Tubbs were characters from the '80s TV series "Miami Vice." Their wardrobes represented '80s men's fashion, and the look works well for a pair of partygoers. Crockett wore dress pants and a matching jacket, often white, with a pastel shirt underneath. Roll the jacket sleeves up to the elbow. Tubbs' look consisted of a business suit and tie, also in pastel shades. Many times, the suit featured pin stripes. Finish off the costumes with dress shoes without socks.

    Hair Band Member

    • Hair bands like Poison were popular in the '80s. A group of guys could all dress as members of a hair band by wearing wigs and tight clothing. Find a long-haired wig and tease or crimp. Wear extremely tight pants, whether they are jeans or spandex leggings, and a fitted tank top in an outrageous color. Some hair bands also wore heavy makeup to stand out on stage, so add lipstick and eyeliner to the look.

    Ferris Bueller

    • Ferris Bueller represented the fantasies of teens across the country in the '80s hit "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." His look was somewhat eclectic. To dress as Ferris, find a pair of gray slacks and a white T-shirt. Ferris wears a cream, gray, and black jacket in the movie, as well as a leopard-print sweater vest. Wear white dress shoes and gray socks to complete his look.
