Electric Food Processors
When you're looking for one of the good electric food processors, the Cuisinart HFP 300 Prep Express is one to consider. This is essentially a hand held food processor. Compared to most food processors, this one is fairly simple to operate. It does not come with a food bowl, you just shoot the chopped or sliced food into your own bowl. It's kind of like a glorified salad shooter.
How does this HFP 300 function? It has mixed reviews, but if you are looking for something that will handle certain jobs well, like grating harder cheeses, than this could really help you in the kitchen. The thing to keep in mind is this is a grater and slicer, using wheels and not blades to do the work. So if something is on the soft side or somewhat mushy, it will not work very well. When buying these processors you need to be realistic in your expectations.
It does seem like this processor has some design and quality issues. For example: one reviewer talked about the retractable cord always wanting to retract. While another reviewer said they had to help push the cord to get it to retract.
Another one of the gripes people had, was that food would build up between the cutting wheel and the wheel housing. This relates to the soft food issue. This machine is just not made for grating and slicing softer foods. On the other hand, what would you expect? If there is a small space so the grating wheel turns, food will build up to a certain degree. Get real people!
